Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) has won the award for best investment project in Europe. The award ceremony took place from 11 to 13 April at the ‘Annual Investment Meeting’ (AIM) in Dubai, UAE.
Flanders and Japan: pure chemistry
Organized by the UAE Ministry of Economic Affairs, the AIM trade fair focuses on major investment projects worldwide. Every year, a number of investment agencies are awarded a prize for a successful project. Sultan Al-Mansoori, UAE’s Minister of Economy, hands out the award.
This year, FIT brought home the AIM 2016 award for the investment project of Japanese chemical company Nippon Shokubai. In May 2015, the company announced its plans to build its second largest production plant in Zwijndrecht, Flanders. The EUR 350 million investment will create around 70 new jobs and firmly anchor Nippon Shokubai in Flanders for the long term.
Investment of the Year
FIT’s services have played a crucial role in the company’s decision to settle in Flanders. In February, on behalf of Minister-President of the Government of Flanders Geert Bourgeois, his private secretary Marc Andries awarded Nippon Shokubai the Investment of the Year Trophy.
“I want to congratulate FIT on this tremendous achievement”, Bourgeois states. “This award is a well-deserved recognition of the services provided by the agency.”
